In 2014, publisher Gema Insani Jakarta republished Buya Hamka'sthoughtinhis book entitled 'Buya Hamka Berbicara tentang Perempuan’ (BuyaHamkaTalking About Women). The notion of equality of men and women was much discussed by Buya Hamka during his lifetime in a serial writing in Panji Masyarakatmagazineinthe1990s. The object of research is gender equality in Islam. Subjects in this study is the text of the book 'Buya Hamka Berbicara tentang Perempuan’. The study used the van Dijk model discourse analysis method which analyzed the microstructure of a text by observing semantics, syntax, stylism, and rhetorical. While the benefit of this research is theoretically for the development of knowledge and analysis related to contemporary issues required by Muhammadiyah Persyarikatan and stimulate further researchers in Muhammadiyah University's to study and explore more about gender in Islamic view. The specific purpose of this study was to find out the textual discourse on gender equality in Islam contained in the book 'Buya Hamka Berbicara tentang Perempuan’. This is considering the importance of the Muslims in this century about Buya Hamka's idea of gender equality, so that Muslims, especially women, can safeguard aqidah, morals, and thoughts referring to the Qur'an and Hadith, and are proud of their Islam. In 2014, publisher Gema Insani Jakarta re-publish Buya Hamka's thought book entitled 'Buya Hamka Berbicara tentang Perempuan’. They are blessed with four beautiful children.The notion of equality of men and women was much discussed by Buya Hamka during his lifetime in a serialization in Panji Masyarakat magazine in the 1990s. He resides in the North-Eastern side of sunny Singapore with wife, Fadhilah. He enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his family. His passion in life is to inspire people through the words of the Quran and Sunnah via his talks and writings. ![]() ![]() He has been featured on local television, interviewed on local radio stations and have also written numerous articles for various publications. Upon graduation, he served at the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore in the Office of the Mufti department for two and a half years before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey. He is a graduate of the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, majoring in Islamic Law. Safinah also conducts camps for teens and children as well as spiritual retreats for adults on a regular basis which are led by Tarmizi. It conducts Islamic courses in English for all age groups engaging the students with questions, sharings and discussions. Muhammad Tarmizi Bin Abdul Wahid is the CEO of Safinah Institute, an Islamic education centre which was started in Singapore in 2009. ![]()
